Engine number

I’ve had an engine tucked away in the garage for years , I’m gonna have it apart and renew what’s needed so got it as a spare , not sure what it’s from though , can’t find engine number prefix anywhere on line , its VSM1 then its either an E or an F , it’s a bit difficult to make out .
