Hi, I’m hoping someone can help! When I start the scooter up (choke out) it starts fine. When I push the choke back in it ticks over for a while then cuts out and will only kick over again with the choke out. I did this several times and timed how long it took to cut out once I pushed the choke knob back in. It was between 44 and 47 seconds so there is some consistency. I tried to run it with the fuel cap open but get the same results. Took both jets out and cleaned them with WD40 but still the same?
Any help much appreciated

Try cleaning carb and jets with proper carb cleaner, or better still an ultra sonic cleaner

Hi Adrian,
Thanks for getting in touch. I’ve since been out and cleaned the jets as best I can and tightened screws/ bolts on the carb. It now kicks over without the choke but when I go to rev it it dies on me? If I rev it in a really slow action it eventually picks up. It still points towards the carb I think?

Does sound carb related, an ultra sonic cleaner is cheap on ebay and a great bit of kit for the workshop, makes carb cleaning so much easier

Hello there. Sounds like your mixture may be weak I would start motor and run on throttle till warmed up then see what it runs like if wont pick up richen mixture screw half a turn let it settle and try it you might have to adjust tick over to suite let us know how you get on cheers alan.

Thanks Allan, I’ve been messing around with it this afternoon and tried to follow this article as I thought it would be similar as it’s for a PX. www.vespamaintenance.com/fuel/carbtune/I screwed in the air mix screw and backed off 1.5 turns then screwed in the tick over all the way in and backed off 2.5 turns as the link suggested. It fires fine and ticks over high and the throttle is responsive. It is when I started to adjust the the tick over to slow it down that it bogs down and slow response when applying the throttle. It is still a very high tick over when it does respond. I have tried to adjust the tick over and air mix but to no avail. Do you think it’s worth taking the carb off for a clean and refurb? I can’t find an definitive information for setting this up.

Just ran it round the block and left it running. Had to have the tick over high to stop it bogging. It felt that I wasn’t getting the full range out of the gears but had the carb lid off so not sure how much of a difference that makes? Still the same issue, it’s a million miles off 😫
