Hello there you need to jack up back wheel and rock it at twelve oclock and six oclock position to see if there is any play.the nut in middle of Hub should have a locking tab so to stop nut comming lose but check to make sure let us know how you get on cheers alan.

HI the rear hub has a bit more play than first thought, but I couldn't tighten or loosen so Ive sprayed it with penetrating spray and I will try again tomorrow i did start it up and the the driveshaft was turning, so either needs nipping up or its the hub or drive shaft? I'm also not sure if it one of the Fa italia hubs

Hi It was a Fa italia hub and the previous owner had only used one washer so the nut had come loose and the hub had worn out fins
