Hello
first off you’re going to have to cut me some slack here please !
I’m just returning to scootering after a 25 year break. In the early ‘90s I had a PX with a Polini kit that I remember enjoying very much.
last week I picked up another PX125 this time a stock ‘07 model.
After my first ride out it quickly dawned on me I need a lot more torque and a higher top speed ( more torque is more important but a cruising speed of 70 would be nice ).
im some what heavier that I was back in those days too .Thats a bit of an understatement.
Anyway ( here’s where the slack comes in ) in the ‘90s I partied so hard that I manage to erase a large part of my brain.
so I’m very rusty on exactly what I need on my order list for a full piston, cylinder swap and exhaust swap .But this time I’d like to go the whole hog with a 187 and change the crank too and port it.
my old Polini kit was a 177 but things have clearly moved on since then with some new faces.
I’m not 100% sure which kit to go for now as I’ve read that Polini has been improved on ( I’m not saying this is a fact as people always say there’s is the best ).
Anyway the one that is standing out to me at the moment is the BGM 177/187 kit but I know nothing about them as a company . Nore if they are any good or reliable.
All the info that has draw to me to them is from BGM themselves . So I can’t take it as gospel.
If their info is right with their very attractive pricing too then are they a real player and worth going with ?
ideally my questions are these :
Has anyone any real experience with this BGM set up ? Performance, longevity, reliability etc
What set up works best with regards 60mm crank ? What crank is the best .
BGM do a box exhaust that they say gives height HP and works best with this set up. Is this right ? Back in the day I had a PM Tuning exhaust that was great but have times moved on ?
basically I really need a shopping list of a successful set up tried and tested ( sorry about this one but please remember my brain is missing )
Or is this kit best left alone and a completely different set up recommended ? If so which one ?
All your advice is greatly appreciated here as I’m p*shing in the wind and I don’t think my marriage will stand me ordering a load of expensive incorrect parts………………….again !
cheers
