Hi chaps here we go,two probs, ist one its a 100sport with 12 electronic ignition (standard fitment) and its a pig to start from cold or cold ish,the engine is a 135 malossi with standard cases and is in good health,if its left for day or longer,it just wont start, petrols there, spark etc but you have to bump it for ages and i usally goes just b4 i peg out myself!. Once running its no prob, runs well and re-starts readily but leave it for a few hours and its no go again, the carb is brand new.I suspect the coil as i had my original stolen before the engine was rebuilt, i brought a replacement from a specialist but didint use it till a couple of years later and i wonder if i have been supplied a 6 volt coil, would this cause my symptoms, i do have one other fault relating to the kickstart but one prob at a time i think, any help would be a wonderful help

Coils only usually breakdown when they are warm and yours is a cold start problem.
What grade of plug do you have in? Are the carb and manifold both tightened sufficiently ? Do you have a strong blue spark ? Is plug electrode wet aftr a few failed kickstarts?

HI,THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT, I HAVE TODAY FITTED A NEW INLET GASKET AS I HAD A SPARE,I CANT REMEMBER THE EXACT PLUG BUT ITS NOT THE STANDARD GRADE OF NGK BUT ITS THE ONE RECOMENED BY MALLOSI WITH THE KIT ITHINK ITS EITHER AN 8 OR A 9,THE SPARK IS GOOD BUT PLUG IS ALWAYS WET WHEN I REMOVE IT AFTER A FAILED STARTING ATTEMPT,I FITTED NEW POINTS AND CONDENSER TODAY AS WELL BUT NO DIFFERENCE,I COULDNT GET IT TO START AT ALL,ALSO FORGOT TO SAY IF I PUT A SQUIRT OF EASY START INTO THE AIR CLEANER ITS STARTS STRAIGHT UP?

should be an B8 plug.
You don't say what carb you are running. But based on your last statement it sounds like your pilot jet may be the wrong size,or too rich a slide, or air screw misadjusted.
I assume ur standard cases will be using 19mm carb and ur pilot should be around size 38, with a main of around 90-98. let me know as much as you can about ur engine/carb setup cos its a process of elimination really.
timing should be 17-18 degrees btdc. I ran a pm tuned smallframe motor once that had similar probs to yours and the solution to my quandry was to ditch the points and fit electronic ignition, but that doesn;t mean urs will be the same.

OK CHECKED THE PLUG AND ITS A B8,THE CARB IS A BRAND NEW 19/19 BUT WITH THE OLDER TYPE METAL FILTER,ALL THE SETTINGS IN THERE ARE STANDARD EXCEPT I WENT UP 10% FROM THE STANDARD JET SIZE(WHEN I FITTED THE MALLOSI ALTHOUGH I CANT REMEMBER WHAT IT STARTED OFF WITH AND WHAT IT ENDED UP WITH,THE IXTURE SCREW IS MOST OF THE WAY OUT AS THAT THE BEST SETTING FOR IT TO RUN ONCE WARM,HOW MAY TURNS OUT SHOULD IT BE?,THE XHAUST IS A LEOVINCI,THE TIMING I HAVENT ALTERED ALTHOUGH I CHECKED WHEN I FITTED THE POINTS THAT THE STATOR/CRANKCASE MARKS WERE IN LINE WHICH THEY WERE, THE ENGINE WAS AND IS IN GOOD HEALTH AND I KNOW THE SEALS ARE FINE BUT I FITTED THE MALLOSI EXPECTING A BIG DIFFERENCE ,WHEN IT WASNT REALLY JUST MORE TORQUE, AT THAT TIME I DIDNT KNOW THE CASES HAD TO BE MATCHED BUT I WOULDNT HAVE DONE THAT ANYWAY AS WITH 3 GEARS IT HARD ENOUGH TO MAKE PROGRESS AS IT IS
