Uk model

Howdy, new to the forum and not yet an owner but very close.
I'm picking a px125e up tomorrow, advertised as a vespa douglas.

When I was getting insurance quotes one of the questions was, is this a UK model. How do you tell?

The log book shows first reg as 1982, first reg in UK as 2005. This suggests to me it may have been imported but I'm sure there are other reasons.

Can anyone offer any assistance?

Maybe look up the frame number on scooter help website 🤔 but douglas is a UK model 👍

Both the engine and frame show a 1982 PX125E, it doesn't suggest if it was english or italian.

The log book says:

Date of first registration: 01 01 1982
Date of first registration in the UK: 27 06 2005
Make: Vespa (douglas)

Maybe contact the vespa club of great Britain 🇬🇧 they might be able to give you some more information

There were no Vespa's being built in the UK in 1982, the Douglas factory closed well before then.

Date of first registration usually always means when it was first registered in the UK.

It is an import, the chap who imported it / did it up and registered it in 2005 actually recognised it and messaged the seller the day before I picked it up.
