T5 slow top end

Hi, I dropped the engine out of my T5 to get the bodywork etc repainted. Since putting it back together it struggles to get to 40mph in 4th gear. I had an issue where I diagnosed the coil had packed in as it didn’t kick over and checked the values of the stator at the same time and the reading were as expected. The problem was still present and it has also had a new spark plug and fuel tap fitted. The only thing left I can think of is the carb? Any help or thoughts would be much appreciated.

If stator values are good and new cdi fitted, then stripping and cleaning carb wont harm, but i woukd be inclinded to start looking at top end, seized or broken rings, worn bore/rings.
Is there any clutch slip?
Before top end invetigation just check your rear break and cable routing,could be brake been applied when you sit on the bike or over tightened shoes not appearant until bike warmed up....done both before.

Apologies, I thought I’d replied 😬. It turned out that when I removed the flywheel the woodruff key had sheered!
