I'm gonna fit a new rear hub bearing to a 2012 PX125 and I'm interested in hearing people's view about the final drive oil seal. Would you stick with the internal oil seal and sealed bearing or convert to the traditional external oil seal with an open bearing. I'm interested to hear the pros & cons.

Hello I had the choice on me mallosi casings. I went sealed bearing and external seal. Probably not as good in the longevity department but if you do need to change it'll take half an hour not half a day. I use mine for blasting round town on a touring bike I would have Probably used both seals and a sealed bearing. I've had no problems with external seal but in the back of my mind I do think internal is probably an advancement. But I always tell my self its not a real rocket, stop treating it like one put the micrometer down, get on it and go tear the city a new one. Oohhh yeahhh

Hello there I would stick to internal oil seal and sealed bearing as it is designed for that. I would also ease out bearing seal cover and put a bit more grease in just to make sure.good luck cheers alan.

Cheers for the info, I have run my scoot with both methods as the original internal seal and modding it to take an external seal. I wondered if the bearing would last longer if being lubed by the gearbox oil rather than its internal grease but it didn't seem to make much difference.
