Vespa px disc horn

My horn is working but is making a distorted sound. I never use the electric start and recently took the starter motor off and blanked it but left the battery (flat) on the scooter. Have I caused myself a problem or should the horn work regardless of not having the starter motor connected and a flat battery. I tried another horn but the sound was worse MOT coming up soon and any thoughts or advice would be welcome.

charge the battery, see if that makes any difference.

Taking it was a little bit of oxidation or the connectors as sprayed with contact cleaner and closed the connectors a bit more now is working much better time will tell.
