I hope this one hasn't been done before, I did do a search and didn't find anything. With a bit of participation it could be very interesting to see what type of helmet is most popular with the Vespa community.
I have two helmets, a matt black V-Can open face and a gloss black Craft RX10 Barracuda "Streetfighter" style helmet, which one I wear depends a lot on weather, mood and distance I am travelling. I wear my open face with a Bandero mask, which keeps the bugs out of my mouth, but unfortunately not my eyes, and I think goggles look naff.
Over to you!

I've got two helmets, both Arai. One is an open face, with a little peak on the front. Freeway it's called and the other is a full face. Both gloss black.

I currently have a matching pair of cream with red stripe open face peaked Modena's, for when my daughters with me and a silver with red/black stripe open face Dainese D Jet with visor for windy/cold days.
I am getting reservations about my daughter using an open face though and may have to invest in a pair of decent full face ones shortly

There is a thread on this already running, on page three of this section: vespa.proboards31.com/index.cgi?board=stuff&action=display&thread=1100340902However, I have a black Nitro full-face and a black Caberg Downtown (open-face but with full-face visor) for the PX, and a smoke/silver Cromwell Hurricane for the Sprint. If you don't like the look of goggles with your open face, but don't want to end up with glaucoma, I can recommend those cyclist-type wraparound clear lens glasses. If you're buying a new helmet, go to our homepage at www.vespa.org.uk and click on the designerhelmets.com logo on the right hand side.

I've got a matt black Momo Design Fighter open-face (hides his poser face in shame) but it matches my bike! If you don't like the look of goggles with your open face, but don't want to end up with glaucoma, I can recommend those cyclist-type wraparound clear lens glasses. I quite agree, although my Dad has found an interesting alternative which he uses when out and about in his wee kit-car fitted with aero screens (i.e. zero weather protection) - DeWalt safety glasses! Huge wrap-arounds giving brilliant wind protection, designed to withstand bits of stone and drill-bit (so should handle pretty much anything flying up from the road), lightly tinted but not so much that the long arm of the law should want to discuss it with you, and actually rather cool looking. Just got my own pair off eBay for £2.70, so can't really complain about the price either.

I like the sound of the safety glasses idea, especially at £8.99
Sorry Spence, I did search for "helmet" and that thread didn't show up, and its got a poll too.

Ray, it's not your helmet that makes your head look like a football. It's your head makes your head look like a football.

Mine's a black full face somethingorother, and also got a cute cream Modena with red stripe and visor. Would love a Davida, but just can't decide which colour...

A cream and sky blue Modena with visor as recommended by the folks on here. Very happy with it. Have a soft top open face Vespa helmet too, don't really like that ... people call me Chips Much better scootering with a visor! Fancy getting a Davida as well at some point, they have some cool stuff.

Mines grey and covered in dead bugs. Arai rings a bell. The front lifts up as well. Wouldn't wear my open face (red/white with a stripe or two ) on anything that will do above 30, except in exceptionally hot weather and only to the shop.

I also have a head like a beestung arse, and found it difficult to get a helmet to fit properly. Eventually got a Demon helmet from Bill Smiths in Chester which is a flip front, ideal for me as I wear glasses and don't have to keep taking them off to put the thing on. It wasn't too expensive, but most importantly, it fits well. Better to wear a cheap helmet that fits than a dear one that doesn't. Incidentally, the deterioration in my eyes coincided with my wearing a helmet with a constantly open (i.e knackered) visor. Could be a coincidence, but maybe not. I don't want to get all Keith Lard, but the thought of wearing an open face helmet with no eye protection horrifies me now. Maybe I'm just getting old. You only get one pair of eyes, look after them.

Rob, you're right what you say about not wearing protection being bad for your eyes.
I once got hit on the nose by a stone chip, which hurt like a b*st**d, but thanked my lucky stars it didn't get me in the eye. Also, I believe constant wind in the eyes can result in glaucoma. Ever had that test at the opticians where they blast you in the eye with a jet of air? Testing for glaucoma.
