Hi everyone, I am a biker (please don't judge) but I have been thinking about a scooter for years, I have been offered an Italian import with no paperwork, which needs a full paint restoration Job. It runs and all parts are there, but am I buying a pup for £1100. With too many registration issues. Cheers Steve

Welcome to the forum 🖐, you shouldn't have to much of a problem with regards to registering, does it come with any paperwork, or Nova number

Hi thanks for that, all I know is it has an number on the bike but no paperwork, do you thinks £1100 is about right, personally if it is a 1959 it seems about right, but I only have the guys word that it was brought over fron Italy 20 years ago and is of that age, there are no number plates or any other details. Cheers Steve

Oh Dear, I went with the guy and bought the scooter, I have bought loads of bikes and cars over the years and this guy did not fit the normal "scally" and I am sure he is genuine.
He was certain it was a 125 - 1959 Vespa, however I have since cleaned it off and found the engine number which shows the scooter to be a 1976 150 Sprint Velose. I am not too concerned as the frame is completely solid as it has been in a storage container. The problem I have is....
Having looked for the Vin number in the two locations ; 1: Remove engine cowl and look on the frame - 2: Remove storage panel and the number should be on the lip of the frame.
Both have failed to reveal any frame number. the previous owner must of sanded it off!!!
I guess my question to you good people is ,is there somewhere else on the scooter I should be checking
I have been through the log book and number plate process with the DVLA before on an old Bantam, but I had the chassis & engine numbers .
So is there anyway I can fine out the chassis number by quoting the engine number ? is there some big list somewhere?
Sadly the scooter came with no paper work or number plates.
I don't want a Q plate.
Any help is appreciated. AS I feel I have bought a pup.
Ta Steve

Hi again, well after a lot of scaping sanding and getting a bit board I can safely say that the frame number is just not clear enough to be confident..... however
I had a moment of contemplation and thought if it is stamped from one side it might show on the reverse, well blow my socks off it does.
I have taken a rubbing and here's what I found, the only problems is it does not match anything that I have referenced so far so if you could help identifying the following I would be really grateful.
I am reading this backwards so there could be some confusion; J I C 388R W C 1
or possibly J T G 3883 W C I
Any thoughts would be greats, cheers guys
