What are your opinions on powder coating? I am thinking of getting a few bits done, like hubs shocks etc For bits that are more open to stone chips. As my scoot is coming off the road this weekend for a total makeover.
Respray Getting gearbox sorted. Malossi 172 kit A few chrome bits
Nothing too major, the poor old thing is too battered to spend too much money on, just want to make it a little less sad looking.
Also I will hopefully have passed my test by the time I get it back on the road.

Powdercoating is great on non body parts, I had a rack & mirrors done, going to do the stand, carb & flywheel covers and also the rims, dunno if I'd bother with the hubs myself, depends how bad they are, if they are getting old just replace them, won't cost much more than coating the old ones.
My rear shock needs doing, but again probably cheaper buying a new assembly for £20 and just paint the spring. Only part of the front shock you can see is alloy so you can polish if you wish.
Place near me powder coated an entire scooter, which seems a bit OTT really ;D!

There's a place in Birkenhead that'll powder coat an entire scooter too. An infrequent member of this forum (infrequent because he's messing around in his mini cooper too much) partook on a Vespa 50 he was restoring, and they didn't do a bad job of it as it goes.

Can they powder coat a manky old chrome rack?
If so I think matt black would be good for it.

Powdercoat on chrome is not great, it does not stick that well and by time you've paid to get it blasted and coated, may be cheaper to buy a new black rack!

Take a look at the VE web site for black racks etc, they do the Faco ones, but I'm told the quality may not be fantastic ..
