Hi all I have a 2002 px200 which has been completely refurbished, all is good with it, except the electric start keeps being really stubborn to kick in, it works fine some of the time, whereas next time you try it it is dead, and you have to keep pressing it over and over again, then eventually it kicks in again, any advice on what to look for with this problem would be appreciated

Could be a bad connection ,bad switch , battery or another component , If you have a mate with a starter which works as it should , take 1 item off and try on yours if no better that is not the problem - for example the battery - if it works fine that item is the problem. I think a bad connection + or damp is the most likely , if you turn the steering one way + it works but not the other then a frayed wire might be the problem hope advice helps solve it.

Agree with you dave. Rock solid advice. I would personally start by checking the earth . Although the battery was always my problem with ele-start it just dont get enough charge so it drains while sat there. After a bit of a raz around all was good .

Thanks for the advice, someone told me there's a switch behind the clutch lever that can also give trouble, has anyone else had problems with this??

Thanks all I sprayed the switch behind the clutch levering contact spray, sometimes it works fine, others it's a bit more stubborn, up to now though it always works eventually
