They really get on my wick driving so close when they are behind you. What do others do to `shake` em off?? I always drive at the speed limit so don`t hold people up. Perhaps it cos I ride just off the centre line and they just want to pass.

Some of my many mirrors are aligned so that headlamps, sun etc glares back at them so that they keep their distance. ( my wife, having driven behind me sometimes says it definately works.) Unfortunately doesn't work with coaches, buses , transits and lorries as they're too high up. might look to buying a bazzooka!! ;D Seriously tho, ride safely. remember, you're just as entitled to be on the road. after all, you've paid your road tax too. Keep your distance from the person in front and keep up those over-the- shoulder Safety looks (even if you've got loads of mirrors like me)

You'll find if you're doing 30 in a 30mph limit in a car, everyone will just do 30 behind you, but if you do it on a scooter they simply HAVE to overtake you because you're going SO SLOW.
You shouldn't hog the lane, according to motorbike instructors, but don't ride in the gutter either.
I do one of a couple of things; if they're tailgating I either turn and have a good look at their bumper for a few seconds, or I wait until we stop at lights then turn round and look them full in the face.
If they really have to overtake me, I just let them get on with it safe in the knowledge that a) they've probably got points on their license and I haven't and b) I'll see them again at the next set of lights anyway, at which point I'll slow down and give them a wink as I pass by.

A glare behind can work, Or if you stop at a set of lights pull right over to the left and hope the car pulls up next to you, As the lights are ready to change you pounce, either by adjusting the N/S mirror or pulling up the N/S wiper followed by a flicking of the bird,
Yes, It is a gits trick but I dont care ;D

At the next set of lights drag them out of their car and beat the living sh*t out of them......but in the real world just let them pass they are w*nkers , I would rather them in front of me then Im safe

Maybe that's why they invented full face helmets - to stop car drivers lip reading.

I`ve only really noticed it on the Scooter, never happens on the Monkey perhaps cos they feel sorry I can only afford a `kids` bike.

Always thought you were a thug Mr A565 and it looks like you’ve got worst with age
I suppose I’m lucky in that the GTS is fast enough to ensure that most of the A***holes out there can’t keep up with me, either that or the spinning blades I have attached to my wheels scares them off ;D

Hi Ian, been away so only just catching up.
Did all the 80’s venues, starting with Gatspies at the tender age of 14, then the Dolphin, the Beckinfields, Lincolns Inn, Mayflower, Bonapartes, Jodies and every other establishment they would let the scooter yobs into.
Both me and A565 were in the Avengers and went on most of the rallies.
There are a few old faces from back in the day in the Liverpool SC who are back on the scene due mid life crisis syndrome.
I agree with Retrogirl we need to reopen the Mayflower so that we can try to re-capture our youth cause I was too drunk to remember it the first time round ;D

The Mayflower was great but the Dolphin was where I had the best times, eventually we took over from John Gore , Jimmy and brought our decks in . Do you remember the weekend dancer magazine flyer that was given out ?

What I remember most about the Dolphin was the dreaded ramp with the life threatening railings at the bottom, and the weekly dance off between Denis Hepworth and Sam the Skin.
Denis the Dancer, as some still refer to him, strutted his stuff to Georgie Fame, while Sam could not stop himself whenever a Madness record came – that was back in the day when vinyl was king ;D
Denis now lives in Southport somewhere and I think still has his scoot, not sure where Sam is. Poppy worked in C&A before it closed and someone told me she still had her scoot as well.

Actually witnessed near accident yesterday inadvertently caused by me. Doing 35mph in 30limit, bloke following just had to overtake, as per usual, car full of kids behind him just copied him doing about 50mph. I can see what they can't, Big Dustcart. I'm almost stopped, their skidding across road up curb, I poodle along passed laughing.

This goes back to what I was saying at the start of this thread; for all the tailgaters and overtaking assholes you have to put up with, sooner or later there'll be one where you get to have the last laugh.
And what joyous satisfaction it brings, right kids?

Happened to me yesterday.
Going to work along the Ford road towards the Runcorn Bridge merrily overtaken doing 60mph in the outside lane. Some idiot in a white Vectra decided that this was not fast enough so he got quite close. Speeded up and left him but then slowed down for the speed camera so he caught up again.
He eventually tried to get past me on the inside, so again I speeded up, I know its wrong but some people deserve it. Anyway back to the story, raced him for a bit and because I do this trip everyday I know where the standing traffic is, decided to slow down. He smirked as if he’d won, only to release that the traffic was stopped ahead.
He never looked at me as I waved when I passed him in the queue ;D
Moral is don’t be a A**e Hole especially when you don’t know what’s ahead.
