I am thinking about a new PX before they disappear forever. Has anyone bought one recently? What do you think of it? Are they worth the £2099 price tag? I am going today to have a look at my local dealer, Buzz Scooters in Ipswich. Will report back later. Will keep my T5 and maybe take it off the road and sort out its running problems properly, once and for all, maybe give it a paint job haha, thinking matt landrover olive green. Gaz

Hello there
Probably not much help but I bought a new PX200 a few months ago down here in Australia. Worth every penny (cent) as far as I'm concerned. The prices work out like for like I just paid in dollars something like $6000 but it all equates. Like you i wanted to get one while i still had the opportunity. I ride it every day to and from work.I just have to find out how to get it back to the UK when i come back in a couple of years.
Its probably not much help but......my opinion anyhow.

Hullo Gaz,
I have a 2006 PX and love it but it's my first scooter so I have nothing else to gauge it against.
I paid about the same price you mention and I guess it's worth it ... but maybe you'd be as well picking up a 2nd hand recent plated one with a low mileage .... could probably save 5 ton. Think that's what I might have done now in hindsight.
Dan.

I take it you're talking about a 125 not a 200?
I bought a brand new PX125 in 2002 and it was only £1949 back then, so I think £2099 is still a very fair price. Especially when you compare it to how much most autos cost. PXs keep their value very well if you look after them, and a 125 will get you 100 miles to the gallon (for about £5) and the tax is next to nothing.
What Devo says about getting a good quality second hand and saving a few quid's true though. I sold that 125 after two years for £1100; three blokes from Leeds wanted it so badly they drove across to the Wirral, gave it a quick once over, handed me the cash, no haggling, and drove back again with the scooter and one of them crammed in the back of their Renault Kangoo.

Thanks for the tips guys.
Went to "Buzz Scooters" and found out it closed 2 years ago haha, well up on my local happenings I am. Anyway found another dealer close but they haven't got any in stock to look at, so I can order one but not see before I buy. Are they pretty much the same as they always have been? just with disc brakes? I would buy a 200 but apparently they don't make them anymore, only the 125.

Yes, apart from autolube and disc brakes (and homo round headset mirrors) they're exactly the same. They did a 150 model when they discontinued the 200 Gaz, you might still be able to get one of them. What's your license situation?

I am currently taking lessons towards my full test. I will be taking my test on a 500 bike and so, if I pass, will be able to ride anything.

No it was Wattisham motorcycles in Copdock just outside Ipswich, they are, quite bizarrely Vespa and Royal Enfield dealers. It was strange seeing these vintage looking Royal Enfields, that are in fact brand new.
They are asking £2'299 otr for a 125 and say there are no more 200's or 150's. Not sure I want to pay that much for a 125, can't even put a kit on it until after the warranty ends. Also they only come in silver, dark blue or black (black one has an ugly brown seat)

Yes, I don't like the tan seat on mine really. Don't like the colour plus it feels a bit generic. Wouldn't mind a bit more of personality in it. Am planning on swapping it for a black seat with white trim I think. Gonna see if I can find anywhere that sells them as I want or will look into getting a custom job if not. That's next on my list after I have hopefully passed my full test (which I booked yesterday with Tomby Bee and his T5!) and of course bolted my back rest

The PX combination of paint and seat colour tends to be coordinated to match the Vespa open-face helmets.
The PX125 I bought in 2002 was a dark green with a tan seat, and I got the same colour helmet with the tan leather bottom half to go with it. Long since moved on now though. Incidentally, they were from Stead's in Romford, which was also a Vespa/Enfield Bullet dealer.

She doesn't understand the need for a 2k scooter .

Only a grand more than an original PX200, and they get to keep the 125 engine. Bargain.

Ok I could sell the 125 and spend the money on a Malossi kit etc for the T5 Doubt they would throw the 125 in, unless I bought the PX and then the 200 engine seperately. Hmm

Nope resisting temptation, too much money and I want to keep my T5 and sort it out, if I bought a new one I probably wouldn't.
Electric start...pah.... they don't know they are born haha.
