Help !!! I'm putting together an early P200 for a friend , i've had to use a new loom and new switches as the originals were missing . it's a 12v non battery , with indicators model . I've wired up everything at the back and everything seems straightforward , i've also connected the wiring behind the horncover . The problem I have is when I start the scooter , the horn sounds continuously when I turn the lights on and when I press the rear brake pedal , the lights go out , is the problem the brake light switch or the horn or both ? It's doing my head in , I can't work out what is wrong . Any help would be gratefully received

Hello adrian I will probably be wrong but I think the horn is rubber mounted to frame so not to earth.i would take horn off frame and try starting to see if it stops as I say not to sure but worth a try let us know how you get on cheers alan.

Don't think horn is rubber mounted on a px as they screw to the plastic horn cover, unlike the older models that screw to the frame with a rubber washer behind, which is why I asked about disconnecting things and see if it made a difference 👍

i'm really struggling with these electrics , thought I was almost there , had headlight working , dip, main beam , pilot light , on/off , brake light working , indicators working on left side but not right . I've blown loads of bulbs , keep blowing indicator bulbs . At the moment the headlight works as it should as does the brake light , but that's all that is working , oh , the high beam light in the headset works and the ignition on/off works . I've tried taking a wire from the yellows in the headset to the back light but connecting it to either terminal on the back light turns all the lights out ! I've disconnected the horn and connected the blue and yellow wires together , if I don't , nothing works . Is this a problem with the stator wiring , the brake light switch or something else ? It's all new wiring and switches , I thought it'd just be a case of joining the wiring together and everything would work , can't help but think the answer is simple , just don't know what it is

I feel for you the electrics are a nightmare at times. Keep your chin up. Wish I could come and have a look for you. I would pull the whole lot out and start from scratch and giving the loom a good inspection to start with and go over it all with a fresh pair of eyes It will be something silly one wrong connection or something. I know I've not helped but I've been there and its frustrating so I just wanted to give a bit support. Good luck.

Maybe a silly question but is it a fully A/C scoot?
I couldn't get my head around a very rare points operated P125X that came to me with a wiring loom but apart from starting the engine nothing else was wired. Example. The horn button was always in circuit until you pushed the button. Then it 'broke' the circuit and the a/c current then took the next easiest route to earth ......via the horn and sounded. Drove me to distraction as totally opposite to all normal d/c wiring I was used to.
