Hi all - can anyone help? I have just replaced the carb on my just-bought-to-fix-up px125(177) with a 24/24! But now I'm finding a little puddle of fuel by the back tyre when it is parked up over night. I've replaced the gasket and the rubber seal around the carb box. Any ideas? Should I be turning the fuel off when parked? is that standard? I'm New to vespas!

Hello there. fuel leak.i would check petrol pipe where it goes onto carb as it's been disturbed also could be leaking from bottom of tank. Try looking at top of float chamber feel if its dry with fuel on. Look down inside of carb box is there petrol there.if so dry everything and watch for leak with petrol on.always turn petrol off when not in use for safety good luck and let us know how you get on cheers alan.

Yes turn the fuel off, but I have known new carbs leak due to the float needle not seating in the brass seat. Have cleaned a couple up with a few cotton buds soaked in Brasso. Dismantle the carb top and remove the float pivot pin and the needle. I then rotated the cotton buds back and forth for a while (boring....zzzz) in the brass float seat to remove any poorly machined high spots. Cleaned out well in petrol etc and re-assembled. Sorted. Shouldn't happen with new stuff.......but it does!
