Although being relatively new to the inner workings of vespa motors, I have lot's of mecanical experience and understanding.
That said I recently stripped and rebuilt my PX200 motor.
New bearings and seals all round
New gear cogs and cruciform New selector rod
New clutch discs and bush
New cush-drive springs New cables all round
Total dismantling, clean and rebuild of the entire scooter (no paint work... yet).
The engine starts on the button and runs sweet, and I can fly up and down the road, selecting through the gears wthout any problem.
What IS a problem however, is that it is nigh on impossible, with the motor running, to select neutral. With the engine off, it selects normally.
Could this be a question of incorrect selector-box cable tensions? Or clutch cable tension?
Gonna tighten the clutch cable and see...
More info... This is the Brazilian version of the PX. 1985 model.
From what I could find online, it does NOT have the 2.5mm washer beneath the cruciform, however, it was only with the washer that it would align on the selector box and with the gears.
The current selector rod is the 13mm version and the cruciform is flat. I have read that the later PX's (1984 on) had the 17mm selector rod, flat cruciform and no washer, although I have no idea what they used over here.
Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Could be the wrong crusaform, as you say they did change from 84 onwards, but it's only a guess

Is the cruciform in the right way?

So, tightening the clutch cable resolves the problem.
No matter how much we might read or watch regarding mechanics, nothing beats experience.
Must say, it seems that this must be a fairly common problem, yet I couldnt find anything relating to this problem on a Vespa through online searches.

Is the cruciform in the right way? Thanks for the input, however it is the flat type. Goes either way.
