Good afternoon everyone, I have dropped the engine out of my PX due to a blown main seal (leaking under a pressure test). I have cleaned the engine the best I can before splitting the case. The enginer is now in two halves, crank, crank bearings and crank seals are out now waiting delivery of parts. I have left all the other bearings and input/output shafts in situ and continued to clean the two halves of the case with Gunk Degreaser as it is easier to manage in two halves and get to the places I couldn't before. My question is, is it safe for the bearings and gearbox that I left place to rinse the residue/now dirty Gunk off with water? I have seen other people do it then drown it with WD40 afterwards to avoid rusting but it makes me nervous. I was thinking of rinsing with water, drying with air from my compressor and air blower then squirting the bearings and gears with WD40. I'm after a reassuring cuddle really Thanks in advance and happy scootering.

Forgot to say if you are new at putting engine casing back together look on you tube there is a German chap showing you how to do it it's very important to get the gasget right or it can slide off casing if to much sealant is on.good luck alan.

Good morning all, Thanks you for your replies, much appreciated, I will make sure the casing and remaining bearings are fully dried with the compressed air then lubricate. Forgot to say if you are new at putting engine casing back together look on you tube there is a German chap showing you how to do it it's very important to get the gasget right or it can slide off casing if to much sealant is on.good luck alan. Thanks for the advice Alan, I will bear that in mind. I have rebuilt PX engines before however none as dirty as this one. Oil leaks galore and the previous owner decided to spray the casing black with engine spray. This is the reason I wanted to take a hose/pressue washer to try and get the rest of the paint off. I had noticed over the weekend that the cylinder studs had also been installed up side down Scooterg, thanks for your suggestion of paraffin, would rather not use it as I will be applying heat to reinstall the bearings and crank Thanks again
