VBB Exhaust Close to Underbody

Hi,

As part of a restoration, I've just fitted a new exhaust to my 1964 Sportique (VBB) and it seems very close to the underside of the floor.....about 6mm. (There wasn't one on it when I bought it).

Is this correct? If so, does the heat affect the paint on the floor?

But exhaust wrap could be a solution,,
