hello ive just purchased a vespa t5 mk1 very nice it is too,but i have a problem,i took it out for my first ride the other day did about 4 miles and i broke down not far from a friend of mine i was a bit low on fuel, so he gave me some 2 stroke and oil it stated first time so all was good so i rode it home or should i say just around the corner and it fizzeld out again so i pushed it home tried to kick start it again a few times no joy,so i took out the spark plug which did look a bit wet,so i dried it off and left it out as so to dry the cylinder head out if i had flooded it,overnight, next day put the spark plug back in kicked it off 2cd kick its off reved it a few times it was looking good then blurrrrb,..stops again, try kicking it no chance,so this time i took out the spark plug and also top off the carb and discovered the filter was really soaked in petrol,so i took that off left it to dry in the sun shine checked a couple of the main jets no blockages there, some hours later put it all back with the air screw screwed right in so the scooter would race,..it did so i carefully backed it off, until it was ticking over a little on the high side and left it running,..then it cut out again and i can not start it, sorry for the long thread but has anyone got any ideas please im very frustrated cheers

Firstly got to be worth checking all carb jet sizes are correct and make sure they are not too big, it does sound like it is spitting back fuel through the carb and soaking the filter, also worth making sure carb float is set up properly and not flooding and that float needle shuts off fuel properly, make sure choke mechanism shuts off properly.

Have a look at fuel line length, especially if it looks new, should be about 24 inches, too long you can get fuel starvation. It will run for a while then stop.
Maybe look at the float needle as well if it is flooding.

Check jets VERY carefully too. A primary jet has a hole that can be blocked by the most minute piece if rust/dirt that can circumvent most filters. Annoying if the offending particle drops down due gravity; you start the scoot and it pulls back in. Blocks the jet again. Engine stops. It falls back again. Yes; it happened to me!!!!!
