Try turning engine over and scoot is acting as though clutch has gone or cable too tight, although it's a new clutch Cosa type so not gone and cable is not attached undo clutch cover and engine will turn over with kickstart it's as though tightening the 3 bolts is also pressing the clutch in push rod in place correct spacer between crank and clutch any ideas folks as my head's in bits now cheers in advance

Your new clutch is deeper than the original, you can Dremel out the inside of the clutch cover to give enough clearance.
What scooter is it, what clutch was in it and what's is the new one? this will help confirm the above.

The clutch I believe to be an original one for scooter there is plenty of clearance as when compressed with clutch tool spins fine when released grabs fine so Dremel is out of the question the scooter is a 2003 px125 with 4 plate Cosa clutch The senario No cable attached clutch cover on clutch is engaged Undo clutch cover bolts about 3 turns clutch not engaged and engine turns over Is there anyway previous owner could have changed cover for one that is smaller?

Could have put cosa internals into a standard basket I guess? I had a lot of trouble with these a few years ago, turned out the brand new clutch was part of a faulty batch... Big bloody batch too..,

Ok so if I've understood correctly by tightening the three bolts your clutch cover is engaging the clutch. Therefore some part of the clutch cover is pressing on the basket or pressure plate. When the cover is fully tightened and you press the Kickstarter down can you hear the clutch catching on the cover?

Think I had same thing the basket is bigger I had to use me old basket with a 1mm clutch cover spacer. You could make your own out of gasket paper.
