I will in a few years time be giving my scoot a well earned rebuild and I wondered if folk could give me their experiences of frame repair vs replacement. I've had a few rust holes welded up by plating so as you can imagine cosmetically it leaves a bit to be desired. My question is do replacement panels, floor, leg shield etc give a satisfactory result or should I be looking for a complete solid frame? Kev.

Horses for courses, friends of mine have replaced legshield and floor on their scooters without any issues. But I think if you bought a new frame and panels you get to retain your registration number, but if you buy a second hand frame you would have to use the registration from that(someone correct me if I'm wrong)

That's about right Adrian, the odds of finding a good and decently priced frame are slim to none. Plus getting another frame and swapping the numbers is ringing, and you can get your collar felt for that... 🤠Get the repair panels.

Ive had a dark thought lingering in the back of my mind that i also might need to think about this when i get my 78 P200e frame resprayed next year. Replacement parts would be my first option, or then SIP - €849 for a Piaggio replacement frame. With the LML frame i think it would need a good going over by a panel beater/sheet metal worker for it to look right

Is it the thickness of the steel that's the problem with the LML or the quality?
