I have to ask as I can't work it out, what is the benefit of having a twin spark plug cylinder head, as opposed to using a bigger (brighter or iridium plug) spark plug and several base gaskets?? I feel like I'm opening a big ol can of worms here (or one of those fake cans with the springy snakes...), aside from it looking pretty frigging mean, is there any real benefit, or was it just a Tuning thing in the eighties because the technology wasn't quite there?

I always thought they were for poor quality petrol. Mostly seen it on 3rd world bikes. But What do I know. Never even seen it on a tuned scoot. Is it what people are doing now?

I'd say it would be a gimmick on a 200cc cylinder. A proper squish would do the same job.

It kind of depends on how you look at it, 20 odd years ago Alfa Romeo had a lot of twin spark engines, Alfa claimed it gave an improved burn of the mixture making it cleaner and more powerful, whereas a lot of the motoring press claimed it was either a gimmick or introduced to rectify a poor design and make it clean enough to pass emission regs, but this was not on a 2 stroke.

The other half has twin plugs on her 56 plate honda jazz, and it was a shock to us. 8 plugs on a small modem engine 😮

Hers is also auto, with flappy paddle gearbox, and for a small car it is great fun to drive 😁😁😁
