Has anyone had experience of the cast iron vmc 177. Mr freak moped seems to rate it but I wondered if anyone on here has fitted one and run into any problems.

Pretty sure mine was a cast iron Polini and it was absolutely lovely. I had quite literally worn my Malossi into the ground with the Miles I was doing and I had to switch it for the Polini. I have to say that I wasn't as quick off the line, but it did give the sloth longer legs and it just seemed to run smoother (but that could be old age and total b*ll*cks that last statement... 😆). I genuinely do not have a preference between the two, they were both bloody brilliant.

Parmakit all the way the 'classic' kit is a bargain. Never played on one of them you mentioned. As above the polini is great a 177 for bashing round town. Sorry no help with your 177. Is it a budget kit? the Indian 150 is supposed to be cheap and good. I've seen one go and its quite surprising how it went. Kit discussion this should see us through lock down love it

I'm going to have a look at my barrel soon, with a view to raising it slightly to improve squish, and probably reshaping the exhaust port... tbh I still don't know if my engine (LML reedvalve 150) is a 5- or 3-port as I haven't ridden or worked on it enough to get to that point. Or are they all 5-port? I'm planning on doing the disc fork mod first but I have a couple of bicycles to clean before I start, etc etc... I'm off work til July!

I was under the impression that all LML engines were 5 port...

My post on the other cylinder thread will answer your question
