Thanks guys.
The test was quite intense actually, I had prepared quite well, bought the Haynes Learn to ride book and studied hard, also did several practice tests on the DSA site. But I still wasn't confident at the end, especially with the Hazard Perception part, as it is difficult to tell how you are doing. I thought as I had been driving for over 20 years it would be fairly easy to click a button every time you see a hazard "developing" but its not quite as clear cut as that.
If anyone else has done it what marks did you get? I got as follows.
34 out of 35 for the multiple choice section (I got a road sign wrong, which is not a surprise to me) pass mark is 30 57 out of 75 for the hazard perception, pass mark is 44
It all changes in September, more questions and a higher pass mark apparently.
Anyway its done and out of the way now, as long as I pass my practical within two years of course.

Well done Gaz! I was exactly the same as you - really nervous about it beforehand and bought loads of guff to practice with. I must say though, it was easier on the day than the CD-ROM I'd bought! I can't remember my marks, I'd have to find my scoresheet - I think I've blanked it out of my memory Anyway, well done

Nice one Gaz - it's a great feeling when you walk out of the exam room and the nice chap on the desk hands you the pass sheet! Much better than the 2 weeks I had to wait for the results of my car theory test, taken literally days after it became mandatory and thus a total organisational shambles...
I got 32/35 in the multiple choice and 64/75 for the hazard perception.
Out of interest, which practical test are you going for and what bike will you be using? I'm hoping to do the DAS (requiring a big bike) or the category A (which is do-able on my T5) but can't find any training schools that provide anything other than fairly expensive intensive courses, especially in the case of the DAS. Are you just getting lessons as and when you need them, and if so then who with?

Congrats, the easy part is over now for the fun. Really though it can be daunting especially if you are advancing in years, chill out and it will be OK, just ride for yourself and enjoy. I won't bore you with how easy it is on the island, WTF is hazard perception, we call them motorbikes over here. You can pass your test on a Honda 50 here!

I am moving to the IOM Big AL I have been taking the odd lesson, I have only had four, but now I am going for my test they want me to commit to one a week and I intend to have six more before my test. (As long as my instructor is happy) My lessons are on a Honda CG125 (mmm nice not) but my test will be on a Honda 500, I will have a changeover lesson to familiarise with the 500 prior to my test. I am training with Ipswich Rider Training in ... er... Ipswich www.ipswichridertraining.co.uk/skrappey i will give you "advancing in years" round the ear when I meet you (only jokin) I am only 40 and in the prime (ish) of my life

Thanks Lucia, have you passed your practical too? Yes, I passed last year (A2 test). Don't waste too much money on lessons Gaz, I was told I needed loads of lessons after I'd taken a double lesson on my T5, but I ignored the greasers advice and took the test anyway! I just wanted to make sure I wasn't making any major mistakes - a double lesson sorted that out. If you stick to what you learnt on your CBT, keep your speed, keep your bike under control, you'll fly it. The school were trying to persuade me to take me test on one of their bikes, but I ignored that too ;D. Turn up on the day wearing a yellow vest and sensible bike clothing - that helps too. If you practice on your own, you don't need loads of lessons.

I had two lessons and passed first time, but I have been riding scooters since 1970! Take no notice of the greasers, they don't take us seriously, why should we take them seriously?
