Am I right in thinking I can use a 150 sprint on L plates as its way under the 12 bhp limit?

Nope, because it's still over 125CC, if the law applied just to the output, we'd all be riding Lambrettas on L plates.. of course, I'm sure there are hundreds of scooters out there with 125CC on the V5 which may be something larger

Sure I read somewhere you could ride a classic on L's might have got mixed up with FS1ES and AP50's. I'm getting old now. Looks like I'll be parting out with my Sprint then as can't be bothered fitting a smaller barrel and piston when I want more go not less! Ian

Ian FS1E's & AP50's, ahh that takes me back ;D Don't get rid of the Sprint, just correct the error on the V5 - sorted!

Hmmn can't be bothered taking test as not sure if I want to be on todays roads for long. I came off hard when 18 straight into a traffic light with my kidneys and haven't ridden a road bike since. Have a motorcrosser which gives me adrenaline rush. Scooter now up for sale as its not worth registering 150 Sprint as anything smaller the engine is a Sprint Veloce from 74. Re: error on V5 if I tried something like that I would probably get life imprisonment. I learnt my lesson when I fell off never run illegal. I was on a Suzuki GT250X7 with Swarbrick pipes, K+Ns, a right 350LC eater, I should have been on a 125 with L' s and got 8 points and £100 fine in 86, a lot of money then I only paid £150 for X7 and that was stolen from scene of accident to add insult to injury. Then had 10 days in hospital and 3 months of work, and a lifetime of back trouble.Since then I have always declared mods on vehicles. Its not worth lying to insurers as you won't be covered when you hit someone or something.

^ blimey, that was bad luck mate, I remember when the new 125cc law came in to replace the 250cc restriction, overnight thousands of Lambrettas and Vespas became 125's ;D ;D Not that I'd have done anything like that, I was still on a Vespa 50 back then... .. with a 100CC engine
