Just set up my 14 year old sons hi-fi. The vinyls he got for christmas were The Jam Snap, Joy Division Unknown Pleasures, Green Day and Nirvana. Quite strange to think i was 15 when i bought Snap when it was first released.
Just listened to the whole of the above, on the Philips Fidelio x2hr headphones.
With some recordings I've listened to previously, I've found the treble very, very harsh, however, using them to listen to the above (even the classical Baroque type music) they sound outstanding. That's just plugged straight into my Sony Xperia phone, with the audio output set to "clear audio +"
Bowers and Wilkins speakers can sound too bright to some listeners (not me, I love mine 😉), so possibly, they have reduced the top treble at the production stage of these recordings, to make their speakers more appealing to more listeners?
Will try listening to this on the Sennheiser 599 headphones soon, for a comparison.
