O.K. silly but serious question, but someone told me that spotlights, lamps etc. - even tho only ornamental and for aesthetic purposes - had to be wired up and working in order for the bike to pass its MOT. Is this True? what about mirrors, crash bars etc.? how do these all affect the MOT? My px is coming for its first one next year. what do they look for? I know about car but not sure about a scooter that has been "Mod" ified.

hi mate,my local mot station does say that any lights fitted must be working and in good order,i dont think the mirrors are an issue as are the crashbars,is it an option 2 take them+lights etc off 4 the mot?-then pop em back on.Other things 4 the mot are very much common sense things ie-brakes,tyres,lights,wheel bearings, indicators etc.As far as brakes r concerned they actually weigh your scoot b4 they put it on a rolling brake tester, with your scoot havin all the lights etc your brakes will have to b in good order, usually the brakes have to be workin 27% of there capacity to pass, but i wud imagine with the extra weight they might require a little more from yours.
