I'm saving hard to pay for a Direct access test so I can get rid of the L plates & go on M2. Been quoted some ''STAGGERING'' prices and not been given two answers the same when I ask how many days it will take. Obviously I realise that more experienced riders are going to take less time than Muppets like me, but I'm at the point of getting some of those ''invisible L plates (yes you know someone who has them) as I seem to be the only PX rider in Kent with plates up. Can you all give some idea of what you've paid for tests around the country. Cheers

Marshie there's loads of threads already running in the forum on getting your license, but if you only want to ride scooters there's no need to take a Direct Access test.
Restricted Access is cheaper and allows you to ride a 200cc scooter as soon as you have passed.

Ive just passed the A2 this morning ;D and that allows me to ride up to 33BHP which IMO covers 99% of classic scoots including tuned. It cost me £190. I had 2 lessons, 1 lesson before test and the test fee.

It's also worth noting that 2 years after passing the restricted access test, your licence automatically becomes a full one anyway.

Move to the IOM, two week waiting list, £26 fee and you 0nly need a Manx license and an IOM address (instant swop). Seriously, take as much time as it needs, you don't get many chances in life, protect yourself and get trained properly. Restricted access would be wise as it gives you time to get used to riding before that TS1 looms.
