Currently listening to this 5 CD box set by the Jam. Bought it when it first came out a while back but havent had time to play it until now. The Jams first two albums are not as critically acclaimed as the later ones - particularly "This is the Modern World", and are not my favourite Jam albums, but here gos:
Disc 1 is the standard In the City album - no surprises here Disc 2 is the demo versions of the standard album. Quite good, an alternative to the finished items, and a bit more interesting.
more to follow....................

finished listening to discs 3&4
disc 3 - "This is the Modern World" - generally considered to be the weakest Jam album. However the remastering seems to have brightened it up - "you cant polish a turn but you can cover it in glitter" disc 4 - John Peel sessions of In the City, and another live session.
conclusion - the original albums are all you need.
A pretty box, some black and white photos and several discs of outakes and fillers. the bottom of the Jam barrel has been well and truely scraped.
