Thought I'd ask out there what insurance companies are people with and who's getting the best deals. I live in London and am getting quoted crazy prices..... I'm sure I'm not the only one! Tried most obvious ones but if anyone knows any others I'd be much apprciated.

Welcome to vespa.org.uk Phil.
As with any kind of insurance, it's best to shop around because different companies will charge different premiums depending on individual circumstances. There are quite a few advertised in Scootering magazine, most of which specialise in scooter or motorbike insurance.
I started out with ChoiceQuote (also known as ClickQuote) because they were good for a first scooter, but their premiums didn't come down much after a few years. I now use MCE, who were at least £100 a year cheaper, and include a full Green Flag recovery service. Your friendly neighbourhood web administrator recently insured her first scooter with RAC for an incredibly low price, but then she is a girly and was already a customer of theirs. I also hear good things about Carole Nash Insurance, although I have no personal experience of them.
Don't forget, value of your scooter and area you live in may just mean that insurance is going to be pricey no matter who you go with. The best thing I can recommend is for you to move away from London and come ooop norff where we have a much better quality of life all round ;D

Louisa...being a fellow girly - ask RAC (which Spence mentioned above) - they'll give you a daft price - MUCH cheaper than £415 and I must have asked about 10 different insurers - and they don't ask too many questions either.

Maybe it's my sexy telephone voice ;D
Not too sure why it's cheap to be honest, but I remember getting daft £400 quotes from most insurers until I blagged to one of them and got it down. Try the old "well, XXXX Ltd quoted me £215 and I was hoping you could match it" line. I can email you my details if you want?

i jst phoned them up-cant insure me as im trying to get my reg number and they dont insure on chassis number thats prob why i have expensive quotes
plus the ppl who are going to insure me on chassis nuumber only giving me 14 days to get it or theyll cancel my policy-im not sure if 14 days is enough time to get a reg number!

Don't know about newer bikes but for classics it has to be Carole Nash or Footman James.
I'm with Footman James - Lammy Li125, Vespa PK125, me (full licence) and wife (provisional) to ride both, fully comp with recovery and guaranteed value of £2800 on the Lammy - £104 a year ;D
