A recent discussion in the Wanted Items forum has prompted me to post this poll. So how do you feel about the thing that protects your head? Do you prefer style over substance? Full-face,open-face, do you wear one of those German style things, or a ridiculous Jamie Oliver-esque p*shpot?

Bit hard this one as I wear both full face and open . Voted for the full face one though as I wear that one more often .

I've just got a Caberg Downtown which, apart from the stupid Petula Clark name, is a good compromise. It's an open face with a full visor that comes right down to the chin. It has the added visibility of an open face with the protection from the elements of a full face. I'm well chuffed with it so far. www.getgeared.co.uk/acatalog/CABERG_Downtown_Motorcycle_Helmet.html

Just got a new helmet fer me birthday got a caberg justissimo flip front havent had the chance to wear it yet as cant keep the bloody scooter running long enough but would always go for a full face on anything other than in town. The gouges on the jaw piece on my helmet when I had my blow out convinced me of that.

just got the new Cromwell spitfire...fantastic retro look with modern technology. Great leather trim, and it's light as a feather with a top safety rating. and excellent peripheral vision. The visor comes 2/3 down the helmet so goo eye safety as well.
Great for summer ride-outs, which is all I do!

Blocky, I want the Cromwell Hurricane, but I want to try before I buy and I can't find a shop stocking them yet. Where did you get your Spitfire from, and how does it fit? I take it you're happy with it from your post above.

Spence, it's F***ing great mate. loots the nuts, quite retro with the open face and visor, but excellent technology and very light. medium is 57-58 cm and fits really snug but not head crushing like the davida.
Bought it from designerhelmets, arrived in 2 days including a bloomin bank holiday! No P&P.
I like the cheaper Hurricane as well, but they don't do one in black/silver
