Just bought a 2005 Vespa PX125 Disc. Really want to buy some better tyres but not sure which to get- Michelin S1, SM100 or S83. Also- Not sure which exhaust pipe to upgrade to. Can't really afford a Scorpion so it is between the Polini sports or Sito+. I use the scoot every day rain or shine. Any feedback greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Hi mate, welcome to vespa.org.uk and indeed to scootering if this is your first scooter. Great choice by the way.
You'll probably get lots of different opinions on this one, as everyone has their own preference.
Tyres, well the standard issue is the S83; cheap and cheerful, but they have a reputation for throwing riders into hedges, maybe because of their farely squared-off edges. Having said that, I've done thousands of miles on PXs with S83s without it happening to me. The S1 is probably a better tyre; more rounded so better for cornering, but with a less rugged tread so they dispel less water than the S83. I have them on my Sprint.
You'll find that scooter tyres are the same as they are for any vehicle, you tend to get what you pay for, but at the end of the day no matter how much you spend, if you go over a nail in the road you'll get a puncture.
Again with exhausts everyone has their favourite. As you've already found, Scorpions are expensive. Pollinis are popular, but I've had two Simoninis on my PX200 and I like them. They're easy to fit, quite cheap (around £70) and they make a great noise. Don't be fooled into thinking that fitting an after-market exhaust will put 10mph on your top speed though. It doesn't happen with a 200, and it certainly won't happen with a 125.
I'm sure a few of the other forum members will lend their opinion. Ride safe.

For tyres it really depends on what type of riding you do, what weather you ride in and how long you want them to last. Some of the softer tyres will handle really well but wear out very quickly. As you ride in the wet you will need a pretty chunky tread but in summer you'll need something a bit more slick. I'm using heidenau K58s at the moment and they are really good in the wet, not had much dry weather to test them in yet! Continental zippy 1s are a good all round tyre and quite hard wearing. I wasn't keen on the S1 as it wasn't too good in the wet (Norfolk back roads are usually covered in a mix of diesel and muck). Dexters were better and pretty good in both dry and wet. For the exhaust you may have trouble with a simonini or polini at MOT time as they are not BS rated. I've heard that the simonini is more hard wearing but I've never had a polini to compare it to. I've got a sito+ at the moment and they are pretty good but not as durable as a stock exhaust. My last one lasted 2 years, finally giving up last week. I usually order from UK shops but for exhausts I have ordered from scooter center as they are usually cheaper (depending on the euro) and they delivered my last one in 3 days from ordering on line.

T,
The next time you are on the look out, please see if you can spot a road legal exhaust for the GTS 250 about.

Cheers for the advice people.
Just bought 3 Michelin Sm100's for £43. Picked up a Sito+ pipe too. Gonna run that for a bit then decide if I really need a 166 or 180 kit.
Is my second scooter. My first was a litte Italjet Velocifero. Unfortunatly, a Ford fiesta ploughed into it, sent me accross it's windsccreen! Wrote the scoot off but I was intact! Loved the Velocifero's cheeky looks but the max speed (even with a polini 70 kit) was well under 40mph! Is currently sat in my garden. If I ever see another scrap one I might think about re building it for my girlfriend.
Oh yeah- gonna do my full test in london on a T5 so I can get rid of my awful L plates!
