Hello chaps and chapesses, I've being out riding this evening in the cold, wet and dark. I have reached a conclusion. I just can't carry on with my Michelin S1s. They are feel slippy in the wet and I get very nervous going round corners! What do you all think? I'm after a tyre that will offer a good balance of all year round performance. Also, is tubeless the way to go or can I carry on with the good old tubes? Thanks in advance. Phil

Phil, S1s are ok- ish in summer, for winter and year round, Michelin city grips are worth thinking about. gb.mynetmoto.com/news.cfm/1117-scooter-tyres-test.htmlTubeless rims are worth thinking about, as I'm sure others will add, equally millions of scooters have/ have had tubed tyre/rims and got on fine, if you can afford to go tubeless, I would say go for it.๐ Ride safe. Took me ages to go for tubeless, but in the end, best thing I've ever done to the scoot. As for S1 tyres, I agree, I don't get on with them. Think I have conti twists, can't remember now... ๐

anlas sc-500 ,the conti-move 365 clones as anlas made the moves for continental . or heidanau k58's , both terrific wet an dry tyres ,am just switching my scoots to there winter sets after a few "hairy" moments on wet leaf .in defence of the scwalbe racemans i run in summer ,it was on way to pub from brightona an i was dicing with some big bikes an a drift car an road was wet/slimy . bout time i started acting my age rather than my boot size . Iโve been using the Heidenau K58 for a few years now, work for me as I use the scoot all year round. German made, not expensive.
Look a bit on the chunky side but good in the wet.
There is also a snow and ice version, which I had for a while, same tread pattern I presume just a compound that worked better in really cold conditions.
Only drawback is the tyre life, I get about 1,200 miles out of them on the rear of the px, pretty well same as I get out of Mich S83โs on my other scoots.

Thanks for all the great advice guys. I am I right in saying that the Michelin city grips and k58s are only rated to 62mph and that the anlas is 83? I have never heard of these anlas tyres before, I believe they are Turkish? Are they any good? Also, with regard to tubeless rims are the pinasco split rims the way to go? Do tyre fitters have problems getting standard tubeless on a tyre fitting machine? God, all this sounds expensive!!!

Don't know about the Pinasco rims, but the Sip rims are easy enough for a good tyre fitter to do.

anlas are turkish , but mostly make tyres for continental ,when conti stopped making the conti-move 365 ,a damm good wet tyre, anlas waited for stocks to sell out an then came out with a identical tyre .same rubber ,formula, tread just different name . an theres different ratings on the k58's ,not sure about speed but theres 2 load ratings an as bryno mentioned theres also a snow and ice version.the thing with snow/ice full on winter tyres there not made to be used for heidanaus over 10 degrees an michelins 5 degrees ambient temps ,there a very soft compound an will wear very rapidly if used then.H

Right then, After all your excellent advice I have decided on anlas winter tyres. They sound like a good option. I also fancy taking the plunge with tubeless rims. Which brand is the one to go for? I have read some horror stories about sip. Are they any good? I've got an sip fuel tap and that's poorly built and leaked whilst fitting the tank. Any thoughts? Thanks, Phil

Great thanks. I have heard good things about the pinasco rims. I've passed on my best wishes to our buddy.

Just booted up my T5 for winter with a pair of anlas sc-500's today ...(Very Grippy) Always used Conti move 365's in winter on the old px and changed them for S1's in spring ...
