ive just done a full rebuild on the engine from hell , it had been run around 150 miles with no oil in it ! i replaced everything , bearings , seals, cruciform checked everything internally and it looks spot on , then i had no spark swapped it out with a new stator and tried to start it , it fired first time but it wont rev past tick over even on full throttle , crank sealing pad looks mint crank too , any ideas ??

check the green power wire to cdi from stator , if this isnt connected they will start an tickover but wont rev ,exactly what you describe .an i'd also suspect a failing cdi ,your tired old stator couldnt get it to spark ,but new more powerful stator can ,or the green wire from stator to cdi is corroded .its a known fault on p series ,whatever green wire piaggio used its always the first in the loom to corrode an break or insulation crumbles away .tho a new stator wires should be good . Hi H , ive tried another CDI and it was the same , the readings of the stator are good and the wiring is very good , it looks like a decent stator , normally id send it of to beedspeed and get it tested and rewired etc but since it was taken over im not even sure they do it or if they are any good , do you know ?? or does any one else do it
