Hi vespisti! I'm new to this forum and I have just posted my blog with lots of pictures in a section of the forum that is not really the right one. I have therefore been suggested to move it to a more pertinent section hence the new thread here (thanks johnnymarr for the suggestion!). The blog features a year of restoration of a very very rusty PX-E frame with lots of welding photos and more. It's still a work in progress so tune in regularly if you feel like following my quest to revive something that otherwise was destined to be scrapped. The blog is called "One Piece At A Time" and you can find it here One Piece at a Time
I hope you enjoy the photos and please share with me any questions or feedback you might have. All my best to you all and I wish you a Vespa Christmas. Pier Giorgio

I've seen the blog, you really are doing a great job! It's always good to hear that there has been another one saved from being a coke can.

Hi... just need to find out now what a mid filler is then? Can only be used in the middle on a restoration..... 😂 Lol @ ironsloth ! johnnymarr I think it's "mid" related to the process phase, as you could use a softer finishing filler after that... but I'm not sure :-)

Hi, thanks for that, i just don't remember a filler being called "mid" before and i started doing panel beating and spraypainting at college six months ago so i noticed it right away on your first photo... I've just looked it up online and found details and TDS ... to a beginner like me it just seems like standard filler max depth of 6mm which we were taught so it would be that then stopcoat and finishing putty or glaze? All the best

I will speak to a guy I work with, he might know, then I'll post it on here. I don't think johnnymarr is too far off to be fair...

I’ve had a proper read of your whole blog now. I don’t know anything about welding really, or have the facilities to teach myself, but I’m very impressed with your thoroughness and precision with all the patches. Looking forward to the painting updates; she’ll be a little beauty!

think you get a great buzz when you first ride a scooter you have saved, when i first drove mine in the summer of 2015 it was the first time in 3 decades it had been on the road, great blog and good luck with the rest.

@dously and sime66 I'm so happy I've found a community of like minded Vespisti here! I hope you're all having a great Christmas and I'll jump back here as soon as I have more photos. For now I'll leave you with a Christmas one (I put the Vespa in the house as I don't want it to sit in the shed and rust until I can work on it...)

My Mrs would be happy for me to bring the scoot inside, the dog however, would argue with it....

so here we go, the vespa is finished! MOTed and insured and taxed and tank filled (all together less than £100!) and I was off for my first ride in the countryside! here are some pictures! Now what will I do? I feel empty! All the resto has been photographed from start to finish at this address: onepieceatatime.tumblr.com

Give the dude a hand! That is a very well done machine mate. Big fan of the colour and it's simplicity. Maybe one day I'll have mine looking that good!
