I'm very much a novice and went for a ride with a pro on their Vespa 300. During the ride I had a bit of bike trouble and struggled to get their attention. In the end I had to pull over and wait for them to realise I'd disappeared before turning round to find me.
I'm assuming an intercom system would have saved a lot of trouble (and stress). Do any of you have any recommendations, or some tips on what to avoid?
Thanks.

i avoid them , aswell as ipod earphones , find em a distraction .if riding in pairs just agree to have ya phones in a inside/shirt pocket on vibrate . friends who tour/take pillions often use them for communication ,myself ,even thru a helmet i can hear my pillions scream ,so dont need it amplified an in stereo right in my ear . Thanks. I can't feel my phone vibrate at the best of times. I'm not interested in anything fancy or the ability to listen to music etc (I've no intention of doing that). But it would have been handy to let him know to pull over at the next safe spot.

If you really need them Why not go into a bike test centre and enquire what ones they use
