Andy:
Hello,
I recently replaced the clutch cable (inner and outer) on a 62 vespa 150. However, now I'm having trouble getting enough tension on the clutch lever. It just goes limp even though I have tightened it down as much as possible. I think i'm just missing something....any advice?
Thanks
Joey:
Is it a limp lever or strong wrist? If you've just changed the cable you'll probably notice a much smoother action. It could, however, be that your outer isn't sitting properly in the seatings in both yor headset and the cable adjuster on the motor. As I said first it may be working ok but just a lot smoother, to check just pull your clutch in and try to kick it over, the kickstart should go all the way down with out causing the flywheel to turn if it's all ok.
Andy:
Alright so we've replaced the clutch cable and got the tension to spring the lever back when pulled. Now the problem seems to be in the handlebar. It moves in and out about a quarter inch - does this mean the spring is broke? Also, I'm able to switch the gears without even holding the clutch in. It's difficult to find neutral, and when I do, then try to start it the force of kickstarting causes it to jump gears. What need adjusting from here? Thanks so much.

Hi Andy,
This sounds like it could just be the split-pin which has either broke, or someone has forgot to put back on. Im not sure what scoot you have so i'm unsure, but on my PX I had a similar problem when removing the mirror mounts. I'd take the headset off and have a look.
