Howdy,
Sorry been away a while, basically had nothing interesting to say cause I have had no time to work on my scoot. What is the deal with having loads of free time and spending it looking for a vespa. Then when you get one, all your free time buggers off and you can't do anything with it!!!
Annnnnnnyway, back to my question.
I bought a PK50 with a 125 engine in it. I recently looked up the chassis number, and slapped it into the scooterhelp.com chassis number look up thing... and out came a PK50 XL. Which I believe is an electric start model? However mine is a kick start.
Could the bloke I bought it off have put a kick start into an electric start chassis?? (is an electric start chassis exactly the same as a kick start chassis??) Or is this not possible and do I possibly have some of my facts wrong somewhere?
Hope you can help!

I'm not very well up on PK's, but I know that when I had one (a long time ago) it had both kick start and electric start. I am not aware of electric start models that didn't have a kick start.
I could have the wrong end of the stick here, but is that what you are asking? whether they were either one or the other?

I'd agree with Robjack. Would have thought any model that had an electric-start would also have had a kick-start for backup purposes (or probably primary in reality). That's the case with modern PXs.
But I'm purely speculating, am sure someone on here will be able to confirm for sure.

Well I have now found that it is definitely a PK50XL chassis. Now I'm just trying to identify the engine! ARGH!
I have looked at scooterhelp.com and smallframes.com and can't find my engine number in any of the places they suggest, I feel like I've looked over the whole thing and can't see any sign of it. If anyone has any suggestions on where else it could be that would be fantastic - or any other ideas of how I can identify specifically what engine it is?
Actually did my first bit of work on it yesterday - worked out how to change the speedo cable, and now just waiting for the replacement cable and I'll be well away.
