I have been having a discussion with a mechanic friend of mine who has assured me if I buy a write off that cannot be put back on the road as the same bike, this can be chopped and be reused as a unique one off build and given a new number plate/V5 etc. anybody else know if this is correct?

just a note of warning i bought my px new and have so far had no real problems or additional cost ,my mate bought a fixer upper late 90s we had a pint the other night and all those little spares/purchases accumulate really quick,i restored an xs650 and thoroughly enjoyed it but was horrified when i added up all the receipts, everything wears on a bike and you can keep chasing one part after another, and they are often worn out anyway george
