hi guys been a while but heres the update. engine has been stripped and rebuilt again just to check clutch side oil seal old one looked ok but new one put in anyway all back to get now. it's a 150 sprint veloce 3port engine all standard apart from 12v baja electronic ignition. 20/20 carb 45/140 idle 160/be3/108 main mix screw 1.5 out timing set at 22btdc. starts first kick with full choke switch choke of immediately and ticks over no problem. runs fine through 1st,2nd,3rd,4th until wot then starts spluttering when flat out just over 60kpm. have tried changing main jet from 94 all the way up to 108 plug chop shows nice colour biscuit brown.
any ideas to get her running smoothly would be much appreciated
Alan

Is it only in 4th gear at WOT that it stutters? How is WOT in 3rd gear? Does it rev out ok?
If it stutters at WOT in 4th, 3rd etc its likely jetting related.

150cc's usually run a E1 or be1 atomiser , with 3 port p series using the be5 , as yours is a veloce 3 port motor i'd be tempted to swap to a be5 an see what odds that makes . H

I'm on the same page H. I think its the atomiser. If it was mine the first one I would try would be a BE2 and a 185 Air corrector together. Keep the main jet at 108 to start with but be aware that it will run leaner at WOT and may need a little more main jet. Not being much of a purist with engine internals (I just like them looking original), if it were mine, I would just tune the barrel to fit the carb, saving money on the new atomiser

thanks guys tried the be5 still the same. runs fine up to 58-60 kph the starts spluttering has to be main jet issue or switch from idle to main. suns shinning so will keep tinkering

ok swapped to a 42/140 idle got rid of most of the spluttering. now got a 160/be2/108 main gets up to 78-79kph then still a bit spluttery (technical term)

As said already the BE2 will only work with a 185 air corrector. Get a 185 and it will be totally different (leaner)

hi guys new bits arrived today so will get them on tomorrow and if the rain stays away will get out for a run and let you know how it goes. was thinking over the week could the stator be the cause of the problem if the flywheel was brushing against the stator very slightly?

ok rebuilt the carb with number 1 slide 185/be2/108 main reset timing to 20btdc mixture 2.5 turns out. definitely running better getting up to 80kph but still spluttering at wot in 3rd and 4th but doesnt sound like it's about to heat ceased.

hi guys had the scoot out this morning for a wee test run. have changed the idle jet to 42/140 and the main to 185/be2/112 best result so far still only getting 80kph but it doesnt sound like it's about to heat cease and it gets up to 80 more smoothly. still a bit spluttery and an occational back fire at WOT. think we're finaly heading in the right direction
