Any body out there fitted a sports exhaust to a Rally 200 ?(simonini, scorpion, polini ,etc) . Do i need to fit a side stand ? as my centre stand catches on a r/h simonini that i've been given. Is this because its a r/h exit or does this happen with l/h sports pipes as well. Also are the twin pipe retro exhausts any good or are they just cool looking and no balls.

Twin pipe exhaust actually sap power over a standard pipe, they are a very restrictive design. The JL Right hand pipe looks great on the rally. I think having rubbing stands and springs is all part of fitting aftermarket pipes ( thats half the fun innit, chopping and bodging?).
Where exactly is your stand rubbing?

R/H stop bracket is catching , i tried chopping an old stand about and took the r/h bracket off but the scooter seemed to sit on the p*sh, looked like the stand was bending.

I think I know what you mean (stop brackets that sit underneath and rest on the crossmember to stop stand. So do you think you could get away with one welded in the centre ? or would it still foul the pipe. Sidestands do bend floorboards if too much weight goes on them. Could the stop brackets be welded on the outer extremeties of the stand and still hit the crossmember/ clear the pipe. I'm clutchin at straws really, but you see where i 'm comin from here

I've got a scootrs pipe left hand exit but I'm taking it off because the sito + performed better. Anyhow when I put the exhaust on it caught the exhaust so I moved the stand forward (there was some spare holes) and that cured it. It may be that the previous owner had moved it about and drilled extra holes but i haven't seen another Rally for ages to compare. Unless you are going to get a 210 kit I'd stick with a Simmo or sito.
Cheers

ok, smallframe 1st, i see what you mean . I reckon the main problem i've got is that the stand seems to sit too far back and to move it forward i would need to drill 2 new holes for each side but only move the stand 1/2 inch forward. Iron duke you must be psychic, i was looking at an RS pipe on ebay yesterday but if you reckon they're no good i might think again.

just another thought.i've got an old stand in the garage that seems to be a bit more heavy duty than the 1 i've got on, do you reckon it would be ok to chop the r/h bracket off all together and tackle the problem that way ?

Micky - i can only say what my experience was but it definitely has less poke (not as revvy) than before and I also checked the spark plug which has gone from the classic chocolate brown to light tan. It's running on a 120 main jet which suprised me, what are you running on? I was looking at the brackets too, mine seem thinner than the modern ones (I had a PX Disc one loafing) but then someone could have ground it down. It's a brave move taking a drill to your scooter matey if your not sure...

Yep , reckon ur right mate dont like drillin frame at the best of times. Reckon adapting the stand itself will be the best job. I'm sure the main jet is 118 and the scoot runs ok but i just fancied summat a bit more sporty to run down the offy and back,
Right then small update, chopped stand to fit , simmo on but seems to run a bit boggy., checked main jet and its a 122 any body reckon its too big ? all suggestion gratefully recieved
