Hi all. I'm stripping the fork down to repaint it & replace the bearings etc and I can't get the stub axle out of the hub assembly. I've got the nut and washer off the end of the stub axle but the bearing doesn't want to move. Do I need some sort of puller to get it out?

Gentle heat evenly around the hub and a good soft brass or aluminum drift (dolly bar), use a lump hammer with good sharp blows, maybe worth soaking in wd before you do this!! hope that helps!! ;D ;D ;D

Hey Jaz, as said the hammer is the tool of choice for this job, didn't use heat on mine though that does sound sensible .. Have you noticed that the hub needs to be removed to replace the brake shoes, those crazy Italians ;D

Well, I got hold of a brass drift and a big hammer and it didn't take long after that Have you noticed that the hub needs to be removed to replace the brake shoes, those crazy Italians ;D I hadn't actually, as my bike was already in bits when I got it but, yeah, that's an interesting feature...
