;Hello everyone ,first can i just say this my first post on this or any forum so if i get anything wrong or put things in the wrong place i`m sorry but i`m sure i will get the hang of it, Can any one tell me if it is worth fitting a sebac adjustable rear damper to my px125 , does it make much difference ?,at the moment my bike handles like michelle mcmanus on a skateboard , the back end seems to have a life of its own and keeps wanting to overtake the front Has anyone fitted sebac dampers on theirs,if so what do you think of them Thanks PS whats a bookmark on a forum ?

Welcome to the forum, I've no experience with the Sebacs personally, but on the OE dampers it should handle pretty good, is the old one shot? or another problem; tyre, wheel bearing, top or botton strut/engine rubbers?
You can get a new standard strut insert (no spring) for less than £20 IIRC if you didnt want to go to the expence of Sebacs..

Hello bryno thanks for the reply , by OE dampers do you mean the original fitted one if so apart from rust on the spring it seems ok its just that when i start of riding sometimes it feels like my back tyre has gone flat ive checked the tyre and all seems ok ,the pressure is right 28psi its fitted correctly the rim is in good condition, I will check the rubbers and bearings tomorrow if they are ok i will try a new insert and see what happens , thanks again for your help

Yep, the original one, I know my rear shock is on it's way out as it bottoms out occasionally, but to be honest it still rides and handles well, and i am very fussy about things like that so unless the shock is totally fubarred, may well be something else..

Sebacs will improve your overall handling quite dramaticall especially if you set the preload quite high. They are not much more expensive than a standard shock and a simple replacement. If you have a disc model then the front sebac has no benefit over OE as the disc front shock is much stiffer as standard. For the ultimate improvement you need to start loking at Bitubo shocks, expensive but awsome!

Cheers joey yes it is a disc model , to replace the rear damper is it true you have to take out the petrol and oil tank to get to the top nut , mind you that doesnt seem to be a hard job just a bit fiddly { i hope}

Yep you do, but only a few bolts on the top of the tank, disconnect the oil pipe and the fuel pipe if you want to take the tank right out, but you can probably avoid that.. easy enough.

Bitubos are the business, if somewhat on the dear side. if the shock you have on is still firm you may want to consider a new rubber mounting bush up top or better still get ....... Urethane Bushings www.claussstudios.com/id1.html

my p125x had 25 year old shocks so fitting a new pair of sebac's made a world of difference and they look good can't really see rear one so you could fit new inner part and new mounts and clean and spray spring and would be as good as new

I've got sebacs on both my bikes, An LML and a T5. Much better than regular fitted sho0cks, the adjustable bit is useful if you sometimes have to pull the old lady about, as i did at IOW this year, once she's off down a peg or two to regain equilibrium and climbing the mountain again at 50. On both mine, the top nut is locked in place and no removal of the tank is necessary.
