Hi all just wondered if someone could give me some guidance. I have a 1963 Vespa Douglas sportique and the guy at the scooter shop I have taken my engine too has told me the kickstart lever I have (the one I removed) is the wrong one and the Vespa Douglas kickstart levers are splined all the way round. If this is the case I can't seem to find a replacement anywhere. So two questions; 1. Is it correct the the Vespa Douglas kickstart lever is splined all the way round? 2. If so any idea where I can get one from? Thanks in advance for your input.

Mine is an 83 Douglass but isn't splines all the way round . Being a Douglass makes no difference exept on how it got to the UK .it sounds like someone's put a Px kick start on it H or simme are more informed on the early models once they see your post they will guide you to the shop and part you need

some early scoots had the different spline arraignment , but if the one youve got came off the engine/shaft a fully splined 1 wont fit back on .you'd need to change the shaft/kickstart quadrant aswell . if your engine had a full-spline one from the factory ,not provable as douglas mixed n matched ,its probably worn out an been changed to a easier to find vbb2t italian one . if total originality is your aim , the best thing i can think of is to try contacting bill drake of the vespa club britian ,he might be able to advise you of whats needed an possible sell you the parts,or know were there obtainable .myself on my 62 sportique ,i just fitted a vbb2t shaft n 150s kicker, you'd have to get on ya knees at 3 foot an count the splines to know . H hi rab ,ya posted as my slow 1 fat typing finger was workin , a 63 sportiques a vbb1t type ,but actually made in england by douglas after they bought the tooling over from italy . an reckon bryno's the man who knows vba's n that best .
