Hi all, I have a primi VMA2T which I totally stripped renovated and rebuilt. Before it's stripdown it had a good spark but now after the rebuild it's spark is very weak. I can get a weak spark from the HT lead to ground but it's not strong enough to bridge the gap of the spark plug. Any ideas on tracing the problem before I start replacing things one by one.....

points set up still i'm guessing , check ya points gap 1st , to much an points arent shut long enough to build a charge .after that connections in general,an the main suspect with points is always the condenser .its rare for em to fail in storage but can happen.after that ,how long was flywheel off the engine an was it stored with the stator inside it . also check the connections or re-make them on coil/ht lead an cap, if cap an plug were replaced you didnt use electronic resistance items,on a good points set up it wouldnt matter, but on a weakened 1 it can make the difference . after that its the meter stator for continuity an earth ,an then the 1 by 1 replacement i'm afraid . Thanks Henri for your input, much appreciated! I reset the points to 0.4 mm and it has it's original un-suppressed connection from the ht lead to the plug. The flywheel wasn't off for that long while I rebuilt the engine and it seems to have good magnetism, enough to hold a 17 mm spanner from each magnet. So I guess that rules those out. So next step I guess is meter the stator plate for continuity and replace the condenser. I have the feeling it could be a long haul!
