Hi
Been toying with the idea of uprating my bike to 12v electrics. As i understand it the flywheel, stator and coil would need to be replaced ? would anyone know of any instructions that are avaliable to do this If its too complicated i may abandon the idea
Thanks
Andy

A late reply but it may help someone...
I've just completed a full re-wire and stator upgrade to 12V on my Rally 200 so I'll give you some idea of whats involved. I decided on the rewire because I was upgrading the stator and as the wires were getting on for 40 years old thought I'd change them. The best case scenario is if your wiring is fine as it is a bitch to change the loom, which you can buy from scooter shops. I used Beedspeed because they deliver quickly and give out free advice. You can buy the bits to rewire your stator or do what I did and sent them the stator and they did it for me, so all I had to do was follow their instructions when refitting it. All that gets changed is the lighting coil as the ignition can stay the same providing your scooter is an electonic type. Also they send you a regulator like the type you see on PX's, I fitted this in the battery bay as the battery was no longer needed. Sp all you need to be able to do is remove your flywheel and stator (quite easy), seat and petrol tank (simple enough but you need to tilt it to get the petrol tap to follow through the hole) and follow the wiring diagram. I now have lights that are brighter than a small candle and can se things!
Cheers

You've not said what scoot you have, but believe Scootrs (and others) do a 12 volt electronic kit for the VBB/Sportique motors if you want to go the whole hog
