I've read a few threads on sip rims on here and can't believe that they don't have a warning on replacing the studs on the rear hubs for longer ones.I fitted mine today and using the Nord washers there are only 2 full turns until it tightens enough to try torquing the nuts up.The last one stripped the thread in the nut with not having enough meat on the bone.Even if they had torqued up I doubt I would of felt safe. Its not the first problem either, the first problem was the valve leaking due to bad finishing leaving burrs around the valve that the O ring could not seal against. At first look they look the dogs but not too sure now.Now to take the studs out and replace with stainless cap head bolts.

i dont rate sip at all anymore i've had products that are complete unserviceable sh*te and some times dangerous i received a new brake drum fit it rode my scoot 50 meters and got off and pushed it back home , i did think about having it machined true so washed the paint off it , it was full off car body filler !!! after numerous emails them no answers or replies ... it seems they don't have any kind of quality control at all the only time you find out the parts origin is when you receive them sip do sell stuff that comes from Vietnam and India be VERY wary !

I have these rims on my lambrettas, but put in the longer studs as recommended. Then got a set for my Rally and found the same problem that you have. So after hunting around on the net, noted that quite a few had used K Nuts, which I then used. Because they fit a 10mm socket, the nut sinks into the recess and grips the whole of the thread and have a far better lock grip than nylock or the SIP nuts. See link for buying, plus I've also used K Nuts to secure my Vespa clutch, which negates grazed bleeding knuckles when trying anything with the original castle nut www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/nuts-bolts-washers/demon-tweeks-metric-aerospace-locknut-k-nut

I may be wrong, but don't the SIP rims come with those chrome recessed nuts (12mm IIRC) which fit into that recess in the rim meaning you don't need longer studs, just the special nuts?
The ones I fitted for a mate did, they were still rubbish mind, may have been an old SIP design of rim, was a few years ago..

They come with Nordlock washers but not impressed with sip not informing people that you really need longer studs.Had the lovely job of nearly destroying a chromed rear hub today drilling out the studs.Just ground back as far as possible then drilled through using larger drill each time and meeting in the middle.

I didn't have any problem with the fit of SIP rims or nuts , but have gone back to split rims & tubes because of big hassle getting tyres changed ....... took 2 of us to get old tyre off , & couldn't get new tyre on , & that was by a competent local scooterist with a tyre fitting machine

Im thinking of going tubless, my mate never had a problem getting his fitted, ianmartin on here mentioned tubless split rimms that have seal between the rims and a few more nuts and bolts added, wish i knew about these last summer before i bought 3 new rims, tubes and tyres.

The latest Pinasco tubeless split rims now have 5 more bolt holes to hold the rims together than the older pinasco split tubeless rims and the FA Italia split rims, but they are expensive at £90 each plus £10 p&p however you can hopefully fit new tyres yourself, not sure if longer hub studs required or not.

the latest pinasco rims have 10 bolts to secure the 2 rim half together and is now TUV approved so should be quality

Too expensive, time you buy tyres, you would be just short of £500, could buy alloys for a motor for that,i will keep looking for a suitable set.

I regret buying SIP tubeless rims. Like others have noted, I found the amount of thread available on which to screw the nuts was way too little. I have destroyed three hubs now as a result; two rear ones and most recently, a front one. I only meant to check my bike was roadworthy as it's been in the garage for a few months so set my wrench to 20Nm and went to tighten the front wheel rim nuts (the SIP tubular shaped ones that come with the Nordlok washers). 5 minutes later I've sheared two of the studs (which is what happened to the rear ones last year).
As far as I know, SIP haven't acknowledged this issue (I may be wrong) nor have they committed to a torque setting for those nuts (again, might be wrong).
I've heard that LML hubs have longer studs - can anyone confirm?
As for replacing the studs - I had to take my (third) rear hub to a local engineers who charged me £40 to remove the existing ones. 'Kin nightmare all round.

What size of thread would I order for the studs on a px200 Buy the fa italia ones, never had any issues with my p200 except for the spare wheel but you can buy extensions to fit the spare wheel.
