Hi All, Went for a ride, when applying the front brakes there is a quite a shudder coming from front end. There is no play on front vertical bearings, neither from the hub bearings. Break shoes are fine and wearing in evenly. So inside hub is running center. Could this be a worn coil spring and worn shock absorber? Any advice? And then, how do you test a shock absorber? And how do you remove a coil spring? If I need to replace the above should I just replace with the standard or can you suggest any upgrading? There is a reasonable pressure when opening and closing the shock by hand, is that normal? On my last thread I mentioned I may have a bent fork, but discovered it was the mud gaurd that was out of alignment. Thank for everything you guys.

My 150 super does the same.I am gonna replace the shocker this winter to see if it improves. Not sure if it's knackered but is the original 44 year old so probably.

The spring on the Rally is very soft, makes using front brake one for the brave, I use mine as Henri says, very gently and only after the back. You can upgrade the front shock that will address the bounce, it's more of an issue with the spring which gives the dive spring can be chnaged for a stronger one but that brings its own issues, worth a Google before you try this.

I have a '33% stiffer' spring (SIP) on my Rally and its a vast improvement, highly recommended. You can also upgrade the shock too Make sure to get the correct length spring as i think there are differen sizes and they can be a little awkward to fit.

as vespaco says ,i bought a new spring for mine but it turned up over-length an was impossible to fit before i cut it to size .didnt realise sip did uprated 1's , will have to think about it nxt time its due a re-build . tho it is funny when px riding mates have a go an come back white-faced n shaky .H

The best improvement I made to my rally front end was fit an adjustable front BGM shock from SCK , made a vast improvement and not overpriced either

My mk1 seems too bouncy when im on it, i fitted a front ajustable fork and tried ajusting but its still much the same, i have no idea what it was like before i restored it.
